Dermatology - BOTOX

What Is Botox and how does it work

How does Botox work?

Botox works by relaxing the activity of muscle fibres by blocking nerve impulses. Effectively the target muscles can no longer contract and so forhead wrinkling occirs less and the lines appear lessened. It takes two to four days to see and aesthetic improvement and the effects last from four to six months. Most patients need additional treatments as the effects of the toxin wear off and lines begin to reappear, but after each retreatment the effect begins to have a more permanent result as the muscles of the forehead are not allowed to contract.

Does it hurt??

Botox injections do not require anesthesia and usually take only minutes to perform. The protein is injected into the muscle using a very fine needle which is almost painless.
